Inside the old Mare Street Gymnasium
The building was a boys' gymnasium in 1896. Here's how we found it, and what we kept.

Tess Okafor

When Tess and Dan first opened the doors in 2014, pigeons lived in the roof and the climbing ropes still hung from the beams. We kept the ropes, the wall bars and the original pine floor on the mezzanine. The lifting floor is new: 640 square metres of rubber over the old boards.
